The last three months of the Covid-19 pandemic have had many of us working from home and evaluating what is truly important in our lives. This unprecedented time has us, as the Fresh Prince would say, “flip turned upside down.” Though chaotic and at times depressing for many, these months at home gifted me the time I needed to examine my business and think about how I want it to look going forward. That being said, welcome to the very first blog post on my new website, ErinCandeloro.com!
As you may know, Threads of Hope started as secondhand clothing sales with 20% of the proceeds going to charity. About 6 months ago I realized I wanted to do more; fast forward, and l now offer organization services, courses, and even offer at-home parties! There truly is something for everyone, so I wanted everything in one place. Don’t worry — the Threads of Hope shop is still up and running and you will find a link to it on this website (so you can still shop from the comfort of your own home!); and rest assured that 20% of your clothing purchase will always go to a worthy cause! With my new services, I help you find your essentials. Do you hate wearing dresses, yet you own 12 of them? Are you hanging onto clothes that don’t fit anymore, just in case? Are you only keeping a pair of boots because of the money you spent on them, and you feel guilty parting with them? This is where I come in! This is my specialty! I help you learn what your essentials are, and what you should actually be keeping in your home.
So you may be thinking, this is great, but why change up your branding? Why would I spend the last several months banging my head against a wall (true story) when I already had a website? To put it simply, I don’t settle for “just okay.” There was room for improvement, so I improved. As I’ve grown and developed my business, I wanted a new look for my brand and I wanted people to associate me with it. When you think of simplifying your life for the better, and you want to surround yourself with what is important to you in your life, Erin Candeloro will be the first person who comes to mind!
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I left my day job in March to work on Threads of Hope full time. I gave my notice in December, and chose March 13, 2020 as my last day. Well, the universe must really know how much I appreciate a sense of humor, because on March 13, 2020, as I packed up my office and said my goodbyes, everyone in the office was told to go home and work from there due to the Covid-19 outbreak (cue Alanis Morissette’s Ironic).
I’ve been questioned, and have been on the receiving end of some eye rolls, when I tell people that I left a secure, safe job, where a paycheck was direct deposited into my bank account every two weeks, to work on a business I created. Have there been times since I left that I wonder why I gave up a secure income? YUP! But I always bring myself back to the reason why I did it: I want freedom, in every sense of the word. I want to be able to take a day off without having to get it signed off by three people. I want to pick up a go away for a few days with my husband, when we desire to do so. I want to work for whom I want, and not ever think, Ughhh I can’t believe I have to meet with this person.
Is it hard staying positive while running my own business? You Betcha! Having a supportive group of people in my life is essential. I am a part of a wonderful business Mistressmind group. It is full of ladies who are all business owners, or who strive to be. We meet via a Zoom meeting one a week to share our wins and our struggles. Even though we all have very different businesses, we all learn so much from each other. Sometimes when you’re deep into something for so long, you have trouble lifting the blinders to see something obvious. That’s why this group is amazing; not only do we support each other throughout the highs, but we’re there for each other during the lows.
That all being said, I’m so glad this site is here and ready! Browse around and sign up for my weekly email list — there you’ll be the first to learn about new services and special offers! And make sure you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, where I regularly post updates. I have worked especially hard throughout these last few months to make the future even better, and I hope you enjoy all of this as much as I do!
